Pacific Northwest Outfitter, Filson, Comes to the Domain NORTHSIDE

Out and about, the Tribeza team recently stopped by Filson, a much-anticipated new addition to the Domain NORTHSIDE. We (along with the rest of Austin’s outdoor-centric community) have been excited about Filson’s grand opening, and we were looking forward to checking out their space and meeting the folks behind this famous Seattle brand.

We opened the door to a hustle of activity as a giant live Christmas tree was set in place, last strokes of paint were being carefully applied, and items were set in place and straightened just so in preparation for opening day. The ultra-cozy retail space reads like the elegant cabin of your dreams. Sophisticated colors set the tone while touches of the Pacific Northwest’s legendary outdoors are brought right inside: a giant canoe hangs from above, while racks of deer antlers grace a side wall.

Filson’s president, Gray Madden, shed insight into why Austin is such a good fit for the company’s newest storefront. He noted, “Austin made great sense for Filson because what we are at heart is an outdoors company. For the past 119 years, we’ve been making goods for people who live outside. Our original customers were miners and then loggers, and now it’s people who like to adventure outside and Austin has a lot of that.” The store, which opened December 10th, carries stylish, high-quality men’s and women’s outdoor wear including flannel shirts and jackets, as well as gear like leather goods, canvas bags and more.

Madden continued, “There are a lot of people here in Austin who have the same adventurous spirit as we do. Whether they’re hunters, shooters or sport fishermen, Austin is full of people who love to get outside. And, there are also people who just enjoy what we create, which is durable product. Everything we make is guaranteed for life; we know that people here really appreciate that kind of commitment. For us, it’s great to come to a like-minded city and be able to say we really have something to stand for.”

Austin’s newest spot for all things outdoors and adventure is definitely open and ready for business!
