5 Cocktails to Ring in the New Year

Decided to stay in and plan your own soiree to ring in the New Year? Make it easy to keep spirits high with these recipes for cheery and elegant cocktails. From a fresh take on the holiday classic apple cider, to the fruity and fresh Sparkling Rose, to a holiday punch perfect for a larger party, these cocktails are sure to keep the party going long after midnight. Cheers to the New Year friends!

 

BEES KNEES ROYALE

1 part Drambuie whisky
1 part Hendrick’s – cucumber and rose petal infused gin
½ part fresh lemon juice
½ part honey syrup
2 parts Champagne

Combine ingredients (except Champagne) and shake well. Strain up into a coupe. Top with Champagne and garnish with a spritzed orange peel.

APPLES & HONEY

1 ¼ parts Drambuie whisky
2 parts Kosher Pressed Apple Cider
¾ part Lime Juice
1 sm pinch Kosher Salt
1 dash Angostura Bitters
1 part Kosher Sparkling White Wine (For dryer Cocktail 2 parts Sparkling wine)

Combine liquid ingredients and salt minus wine into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake and strain over ice into double rocks glass. Top with Sparkling wine and garnish with thin apple slices and mint.

 

SPARKLING ROSE

1.5 parts Milagro Silver tequila
0.25 part Simple Syrup
0.5 part Fresh Lemon Juice
0.75 part Watermelon Juice
2 parts Rosé Sparkling Wine
Garnish: 1 Lemon Twist

Combine all ingredients, except sparkling wine, in a cocktail shaker and add ice. Shake, strain and pour into a champagne flute. Garnish with a lemon twist.

 

CUCUMBER 75

1.5 part Hendrick’s gin
0.5 part fresh lemon juice
0.5 part simple syrup
3 wheels English cucumber
Dry sparkling wine

In a mixing glass muddle Hendrick’s, lemon, simple and cucumbers. Ice, shake well and fine strain into a flute. Top with sparkling wine.

 

SOLERNO CELEBRATION PUNCH

(serves 20-25 pp)

1 bottle Solerno Blood Orange Liqueur
1 bottle Lillet
1 bottle dry, sparkling white wine
16 parts freshly brewed, strong, chai spiced black tea
8 parts Fever Tree Ginger Beer
8 parts fresh squeezed lemon juice
16 dashes Angostora Bitters
Garnish: cinnamon sticks and orange wedges

Over a large block of ice in a punch bowl, pour all the ingredients and stir to combine. Garnish with thinly sliced orange wheels. Serve in punch cups with a cinnamon stick and a small wedge of orange.
