Laura Latimer: Niche Construction Exhibition Opening

Dimension Gallery announces the opening of Niche Construction, an exhibition of new works by Laura Latimer, with an artist reception on Thursday, May 23 at 7-10 pm. The exhibition will be open during public gallery hours, Thursday-Saturday, through June 22.

In ecological terms, niche refers to the fit of a species to certain environmental conditions. Niche Construction is the process by which an organism physically modifies an environment or moves to another habitat that better suits its needs. This mode of adaptation can subsequently distort the established evolutionary dynamic. As humans cut deeper into our natural world, how might that disrupt cycles of change? This exhibition of sculpture, photography, and installation contemplates the possibilities.
