Magdalena Jarkowiec: Unusual Kinships Exhibition Opening

Magdalena Jarkowiec presents Unusual Kinships, her first solo show of soft sculpture in Austin. The work is a continuation of her ‘imaginary clothing’ series and deals with the intersection of the self with the things and people it must negotiate with daily.  Magdalena is interested in the way the specific (and arbitrary) personalities of our partners and domestic spaces are irreducible and demand we contend with them. The show will describe these intimacies with human/object hybrid forms, dollhouse-esque installations, hanging portraits of lovers and friends and Magdalena’s characteristic humor and inventiveness.

Unusual Kinships opens April 11 with an artist reception from 7pm – 10pm.  The show will be on view through May 18.
