Modern Times Speaker Series: Keep Austin … in Existence?

The Neill-Cochran House Museum hosts an ongoing speaker series called “Modern Times” featuring Texas-based researchers, authors, political leaders, and other field experts covering the history of an era, topic by topic and decade by decade.
October’s featured speaker is Mike Miller, manager of the Austin History Center at the Austin Public Library, where he directs all operations of the Center. In this Modern Times talk, Miller will offer a whimsical look at how Austin came to be and how it overcame all that tried to end it, exploring why Austin is an incredibly unlikely and unusual capital city, and how it has persisted despite political and environmental pressures.
