Special Screening of ‘The Rescue’ at AFS

The Austin Film Society will host a special screening of “The Rescue,” the award-winning documentary from National Geographic and directors Jimmy Chin and Chai Vasarhelyi (“Free Solo”). The film is about the 2018 diving rescue of a youth soccer team after they were trapped in the Tham Luang cave network of Northern Thailand. AFS Cinema will present the film on Saturday, Jan. 14, followed by an in-person Q&A with Rick Stanton, one of the leading UK civilian cave divers who was involved with the rescue mission. Stanton is a retired firefighter and received the George Medal with his fellow diver John Volanthen for their bravery.
