Vy Ngo: The IN Between Opening Reception

“The IN Between” is an art exhibit by Vietnamese-American artist, Vy Ngo, running September 6 – October 5 at the Dougherty Arts Center. Through her art, Ngo explores the ideas of immigration and finding acceptance within one’s ethnic heritage, within America, and within oneself. Pulling from her lived experiences as a refugee growing up in rural Pennsylvania as well as interviews with today’s immigrants – local students from the International High School in East Austin – “The In Between” explores the complexities of immigrant identities through intimate portraits, abstract landscapes and a large scale installation.

To kick-off the exhibit, join Ngo for an opening reception on September 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. for a chance to discuss with the artist the depths of her pieces. The reception is free and open to the public and will include beverages from local brands.
