Waller Creek Conservancy: Women in Jazz

Waller Creek Conservancy, in partnership with the Austin History Center, will host Women in Jazz on June 12 at Symphony Square. This free public event celebrates Black Music Month and recreates the jazz scene experienced on Red River Street during the 50’s and 60’s. Women in Jazz will feature a discussion about the life works of Ernie Mae Miller, who enjoyed a 15-year residency at the New Orleans Club and helped usher in the beginning of Red River’s reputation as a live music destination. The evening will also include a discussion of music legend Margaret Wright’s work.
