West Austin Home Designed by Fern Santini Sells for Millions

A high-end residential home inspired by Austin’s musical soul — and a $16.25 million asking price — has sold. Located in west Austin, the luxury music-themed house dubbed “Austin In Stereo” and “Meadowbank” was designed by Austin-native and home designer Fern Santini and her team of artists, designers and architects. 

The 7,300-square-foot, three-floor dwelling features four bedrooms, four en suite bathrooms and three half baths, an indoor and outdoor kitchen, inner courtyard, family room, office, library bar and rooms for media, laundry and storage.

Outside the residence, flanked by heritage oak trees, there’s a patio, third-floor terrace, pool, bocce court and putting green.

Nearly every room of the house offers a unique art or music-themed element, including sculptures, signed books, photographs and an extensive McIntosh Labs vacuum tube stereo system that’s been wired throughout the property.

Tribeza asked project leader Fern Santini which part of the house was her favorite. “If I had to choose, it’s the library bar,” Santini says. “It’s filled with signed photographs of rock and roll musicians—these legends, incredible photos of Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Mick Jagger, Dolly Parton. There are thirty signed photographs, we spent three years collecting them. Of course, Willie Nelson is up there.”

The music-themed house was brought to life by Santini’s team of local and global artisans, builders and creatives called the Fern Santini Collaborative, along with design and furnishing industry leaders such as 1stDibs, Janus et Cie, Miele and MJ Atelier.

Project partners included Escobedo Group, Paul Lamb Architects, Shademaker Studio, Alexander Marchant, Architectural Tile & Stone, Ann Sacks, Be Inthavong, Black Sheep Unique, Captive Audio, Harway Appliances, Kyle Bunting, Merida, Scoot + Cooner, Stuga, Supply Showroom, Shota Yamaguchi Designs, Urban Electric and Bespoke Dwellings.

The $16.25 million property was sold off market this week by The Eklund|Gomes Team with Douglas Elliman Texas. Eklund and his business partner John Gomes are best known as celebrity real estate brokers on Bravo’s long-running Million Dollar Listing.

According to Santini, a portion of the sale, along with funds raised from a ticketed event at the house on April 28th, will be donated to the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM). HAAM provides access to affordable healthcare for Austin’s working musicians, with a focus on prevention and wellness.

Asked about his favorite aspects of the house, Gomes, a co-founder of the Eklund|Gomes Team, told Tribeza: “Meadowbank is one of the most magnificent houses I have ever seen. The wallpaper, the tiles, the furniture…every detail in this house was designed to perfection.”
