Texas Performing Arts has unveiled its 2024/25 season, promising a dynamic fusion of innovation and tradition in live performance to come to the University of Texas at Austin’s Bass Concert Hall. With a curated selection of 14 captivating events featuring the talents of Twyla Tharp, Branford Marsalis, Sweet Honey in the Rock, and David Byrne’s “SOCIAL! Dance Club”, and many more, the upcoming season promises to an exciting artistic journey.

Bob Bursey, the visionary Executive & Artistic Director of Texas Performing Arts, describes the season, “Our 2024/25 season is a vibrant tapestry of artistic expression, showcasing the convergence of diverse voices and perspectives,” Bursey remarks. “From the heart of Texas to the far reaches of the globe, these performances invite audiences to engage in a spirited dialogue of creativity and cultural exchange.”
This season’s lineup is a testament to the spirit and boundary-pushing that defines contemporary performing arts. Introducing fresh talent alongside the triumphant return of revered icons, all poised to captivate audiences with their groundbreaking work. The program promises something for every discerning palate across music, theatre, dance, and immersive experiences.
Twyla Tharp, Branford Marsalis, Sweet Honey in the Rock — and more
Among the eagerly anticipated highlights is Twyla Tharp‘s “Diamond Jubilee” commemorating six decades of revolutionary dance to Conspirare’s poignant reinterpretation of “Considering Matthew Shepard,” the season promises a tapestry of artistic excellence. Saxophonist Branford Marsalis ignites the stage with an electrifying residency, while Sweet Honey in the Rock returns with a triumphant tribute to five decades of vocal empowerment. Collaborations with Fusebox bring innovative premieres like Suzanne Bocanegra’s “Honor” and Kid Koala’s interactive cinema experience “The Storyville Mosquito.” Attendees can also dive into immersive experiences, including David Byrne’s “SOCIAL! Dance Club” and Andrew Schneider’s cosmic journey “N O W I S W H E N W E A R E (the stars).”
Additionally, Texas Performing Arts announces “Postcards from the Border,” a groundbreaking collaboration featuring Carrie Rodriguez, Oscar Cásares, and Joel Salcido, premiering January 2025. Tickets for the full 2024/25 Season lineup go on sale May 23.
