What sets Clarksville apart from other neighborhoods?
Jennifer – The accessibility and walkability of the Clarksville neighborhood is like no other place in Austin. Being so close to Downtown and with easy access to MoPac, you have all of Austin at your fingertips.
Lisa – Clarksville gives you the best of both worlds – a little bit of downtown living where you can walk to some of the city’s best restaurants while also offering the feel of an actual neighborhood where you know your neighbors.
Clarksville is known for its walkability. What are some of your favorite places to stroll to?
Jennifer – I love grabbing a coffee and a bite from Swedish Hill before making my way around the neighborhood to look at the homes. With Clarksville being such a historic area, you can see it all when it comes to architecture – from small craftsman-style bungalows and modern new construction homes to multi-family developments.
What do you enjoy outside of real estate?
Jennifer – Life is all about balance so outside of real estate you will find me spending time with my family. I am my kids’ biggest cheerleader so I can often be seen at the soccer field with August or taking road trips for Juliet’s cheer competitions.
Lisa – As empty nesters, my husband, Stuart and I have been doing as much travel as the last couple of years has allowed, but more so we are rediscovering the city in new and different ways. Our daughter, Zayne works for Austin FC and we are also season ticket holders so you can always find us cheering on Verde! We are also in the restaurant business and are foodies at heart, so we love checking out all the wonderful new restaurants that continue to make their way to our city.
Tacos, tequila and a tasteful vibe made this Clarksville-based restaurant the perfect locale for Jennifer and Lisa’s fun photoshoot. As the institution’s second location, Taco Flats Clarksville promises to change lives with their frozen drinks. Jennifer and Lisa suggest the Spicy Frozen Margarita made of 100% agave tequila, triple sec, hand-squeezed lime juice and is topped off with a fresh jalapeño.
Yummy!
Clarksville has some of the best restaurants and patios. You could eat breakfast, lunch and dinner here without ever having to leave the neighborhood.
- Clark’s | Perfect for lunch
- Amy’s Ice Creams | Always follows a visit to West Austin Park
- Swedish Hill | Cappuccino and an almond croissant
- Josephine House | Ideal for an afternoon with friends on the lawn

Best food truck in Bouldin Creek?
We feature a thriving food trailer scene that highlights amazing culinary skilled entrepreneurs. One of my favorites is El Primo for their breakfast tacos!
Favorite places or businesses within walking distance?
Austin’s crown jewel, the Hike and Bike Trail, is my all-time favorite walkable destination for Bouldin! Then there’s Word of Mouth bakery for their ridiculously good monkey bread and avocado toast, and, of course, Elizabeth Street Café for their Sunday brunch. My favorite is the ginger sausage with sticky rice, followed by crepes with Nutella. Holy smokes, it is good!
What do you enjoy outside of real estate?
I love spending time outdoors and find myself doing some pretty extreme endurance challenges with my fiancé, a retired Navy SEAL. We are currently training for a 50-miler in the mountains of Patagonia for the Fall.
The sunny dining rooms and shady garden patio of Elizabeth Street Cafe made the perfect venue for Wende’s photoshoot. A Vietnamese cafe and French bakery, residents appreciate the delightful food and fun ambiance.

Favorite aspect of living downtown?
The simplicity of living. No yard, no roof, no pool maintenance. I can walk to almost all of my favorite spots and run into friends and colleagues regularly.
Known for its vibrant nightlife, what are 3 places you’d recommend and why?
Codependent Cocktails and Coffee is a great place to meet with friends and co-workers for an après-work libation. Ranch 616 for a Ranch Water and the guarantee of running into an old friend. J Carver’s for the best steak in town.
You’ve been in sales since you were 6 years old. What have you learned throughout the years?
The best salesperson is one that helps someone purchase what they need versus selling them something that they might not need or care for.
laid-back Bee Cave & Spanish Oaks
Wendi Slaton Anderson

Green spaces and pristine golf courses make the most of the rolling landscape while some of the Hill Country’s best shopping destinations are mere minutes away. Nestled just west of the city limits awaits the relaxing communities of Bee Cave and Spanish Oaks. Slightly removed from the hustle and bustle of the city, Bee Cave, named for the large caves that were previously home to colonies of Mexican Honey Bees, is recognized for its laid-back ambiance while Spanish Oaks is renowned for being one of Austin’s most exclusive and private neighborhoods. For the latest buzz on the areas, grab a coffee or cone with local specialist and founder of ROOTS Residential Group, Wendi Slaton Anderson.

Is there a meaning behind “Roots” Residential Group?
Our slogan is “Homegrown in Austin.” Grounded in Goodness. To buy a home is to plant roots in a community. My relationships with my clients are rooted in authenticity, trust and respect. I am also a very grounded person with strong family roots who values deep connections with people and places.
As a coffee and ice cream aficionado, what are some of your go-to destinations for an icy treat or cup of joe?
Runaway Luna coffee shop in the Hill Country Galleria, Greater Goods Coffee, and Amy’s Ice Creams! I recommend Mexican Vanilla with ginger snaps!
Outside of real estate, what do you enjoy?
My husband, Brian, and our 3 children give my life depth, color, and meaning beyond what I could have ever imagined. Being a mom is challenging and fulfilling. It makes me laugh and cry, often at the same time. My family makes me strive to be the best version of myself every day and they love and support me unconditionally, even when I totally miss the mark!
Sipping bold espressos, savoring feel-good vibes and connecting with others is something laid-back Wendi truly enjoys. So, it just made sense for her to select Runaway Luna Coffeehouse & Lifestyle Boutique for her photoshoot venue. Check out their new location across from Cafe Blue in the Galleria.

Imagine walking out the back door and hopping aboard your boat to enjoy an evening gliding across the gentle waves of Lake Austin. Hard to beat, lakeside living is like no other with a tranquil, fun ambiance, diversity of homes lining the banks, and close proximity to the city’s center. A quick stopover at West Harbour Marina isn’t out of the ordinary for Kumara and her family. So, when she was asked about a location for her photoshoot, she knew it had to include the luxury and comfort of the marina paired with Lake Austin in the background.
Favorite ways to get on the water?
We keep our boat at West Harbour Marina, so that is usually our number one way of jumping on the water.
Best restaurants in the area to enjoy the views?
I am so excited for the revamped Ski Shores by McGuire Moorman Lambert Hospitality! Of course, we love Hula Hut for yummy cocktails and good vibes.
Favorite way to spend time with your kids on Lake Austin?
When it starts to warm up, we love to get in a couple hours of wake surfing daily!
Ranked one of the best spas in U.S., what are a few treatments at Lake Austin Spa Resort that you suggest?
It has a magical ambiance so I always try to spend the full day when I am there. I love the Regal facial and the Muscle Tension Melt massage!

Where did “B3E Creative” come from?
Family is at the center of all I do, so I love to include little nods to my kids in the names of my business ventures. B for me and 3E for Emerson, Esme and Eames.
What do you enjoy outside of real estate?
We’re an outside family! We live a few houses down from a greenbelt entrance so we spend a lot of time hiking on the greenbelt and hanging out at the park.
Westgate has great nightlife. What are your go-to spots?
Nightlife is springing up all over 78745 these days. Some of my favorites are The Little Darlin’, The Far Out Lounge, tons of fun stuff in the St. Elmo area and, if you want to venture further south, Moontower and Indian Roller to be outdoors.
Favorite business in the Westgate Shopping Center?
It’s hard to choose but Skandinavia has great modern furniture and my kids adore Whole Earth and popping into the Austin Bouldering Project.
As one of Brooke’s all-time favorite venues in the Westgate area, Radio Coffee & Beer was a must for her photoshoot location. Being able to indulge in their amazing coffee while enjoying the perfect ambiance and delicious scents wafting from the food trucks was just an added bonus.

What sets Travis Heights apart from other neighborhoods?
The peaceful energy of Travis Heights in such close proximity to Downtown Austin and South Congress is rare. I have yet to find another neighborhood so close to the action, but with such a zen, laid-back, nature-oriented vibe.
Favorite ways to stay active outdoors?
Every morning, rain or shine, I take my dogs, Dude and Rocky, for long walks in Travis Heights. We typically stroll through Stacy Park and along Blunn Creek, but often venture into other parts of the neighborhood as well. I also enjoy the tennis courts in Stacy Park and nearby South Austin Tennis Center.
Best parks or venues to stretch your legs?

Running, reading, book club, and storytelling in all its forms. Most of my money is spent on traveling and personal home renovation projects. I just painted the interior of my home and installed new floors, and that’s a fun time in my book!
classic Westover Hills
Adam Zell
REALTOR® | COMPASS
Beautiful streets shaded by canopies of trees and well-maintained spacious lots flourish in this hybrid of a suburb and city. Convenient to everything, Westover Hills exudes a 1990’s community vibe where neighbors are friends and kids play together in the street. A fan of this old-school feel and an expert on the area, Adam Zell has proudly called Westover Hills home since 2014. Along with his wife, Rachel, newborn son, William, and two daughters, Goldie and Fiona, Adam has gotten to know the neighborhood like the back of his hand because he has walked it (while chasing his kids) more than anyone!
Recognized for more than his magnificent red hair and family-man personality, this Boston transplant also thoroughly understands the intricacies of relocating and the importance of finding the right place at the right time. Whether buying or selling, Adam is consistently motivated by helping good folks secure a place to create memories and live their best life. It’s this genuine approach, as well as his interesting mix of East Coast hustle and Southern hospitality, that has helped him close more than 800 transactions in his over a decade-long real estate career.

With real estate, what are you most passionate about?
Everyone’s life is a story and it’s just about moving to that next chapter. With your home being such a central focus, I’m essentially helping my clients transition to that next chapter of their life. That is what I’m the most passionate about.
Dripping Springs is home to a quaint downtown with great shopping. What shops do you recommend?
You can’t go wrong popping in and out of each store because they are all so unique! I do, however, have to shout-out Style and Beauty by Priscilla, an adorable little boutique that offers award-winning medical spa treatments. It’s so important that we all feel confident in our own skin!
What is your favorite way to cool off in the summer?
Hamilton Pool is always cool and crisp, and the area is breathtaking with a 50- foot waterfall. I just enjoy getting outside to appreciate God’s handiwork.

Best places to take in the city skyline and lake vistas?
Mt. Bonnell is the most well-known public spot to see spectacular lake, hill-country and sunset views. But some of the best views are from the backyards and living rooms of many of the wonderful homes here. I started to make a list of streets and it was just too long… so many homes here have incredible views.
Any favorite restaurants in the are we should know of?
Chez Zee for awesome desserts and a delicious weekend brunch! Russell’s Bakery for the best cinnamon rolls and gluten-free pumpkin bread. JuiceLand is a welcome addition with great smoothies and juices. Or take Hancock Drive east to all the great food on Burnet Road!

welcoming Hyde Park
Tammy Young
BROKER ASSOCIATE | SEED PROPERTY GROUP | COMPASS
A bubble in its own right, this small town within a big city offers a walkable lifestyle and a grounded, authentic culture. Whether Prius driver or Tesla owner, all walks of life are welcomed. In short, Hyde Park is a “do you” type of neighborhood. While occasionally identified with college life and red silo cups, local expert and resident, Tammy Young is quick to note that she has never been woken by a raucous party. In her experience, it’s more of a supportive community where neighbors keep an eye on the homes, bring over meals when least expected, and invite each other over for an afternoon drink on the porch.
Calling Hyde Park home since 2010, Tammy left behind a fashion career in Los Angeles and Paris, France to raise a family and pursue real estate. Since 2016, her team, SEED Property Group has closed more than $80 million worth of transactions in her neighborhood alone. More than just aware of the value of the homes and market, Tammy also has an innate understanding of why buyers purchase here, knows the ins and outs of securing building permits, and is able to easily re-imagine an old house to accommodate modern lifestyles.
SeedPropertyGroup.com
(512) 559 8833 | Hello@SeedPropertyGroup.com
Loving the vibe of the Commodore Perry Estate, Tammy knew that it would make the perfect backdrop for her photoshoot. Here, it’s about being authentic, cool and inviting; all words that also describe Tammy!
Best place to grab a quick meal?
As a busy mom, I am thankful for the local restaurants in Hyde Park where, in a time crunch, we can grab a table for 5 and sit down for a family meal. Asti, Julio’s and Curra’s are our faves. I am also thankful and indebted to Fresh Plus – they have saved many a meal or morning rush when I was out of a key ingredient.
Speaking of kids, what do they like most about the area?
My teenagers enjoy the freedom and independence that comes with an urban neighborhood (though we have an army of fellow parents always watching over them). My youngest, who is in 1st grade, loves the goats and chickens on Avenue H, trinket garden on Avenue F, Engine No 9 at the fire station on Speedway and Shipe Park where he tries out tennis.
As Austin’s first suburb in 1891, how has it changed?
Many of the homes have the same façade but have evolved to accommodate 2022 life. Hyde Parkers are out and about in our neighborhood – not just in their cars – I like to think that is similar to how it was 120 years ago.

Do you have any favorite ways to get on the water?
Most of my clients own a boat slip or dock so, depending on the level of the lake, there are many areas and activities to be enjoyed. The Yacht Club has its own marina and boat slips. For those who don’t have their own, I suggest checking Volente Beach, a boutique waterpark on the shores of Lake Travis!
What are the best waterfront dining options available?
Canyon Grille Rough Hollow is one of my favorites! Also, when people come in from out of town, I always take them to The Oasis. Being the Sunset Capital of the World, Oasis features numerous decks and vistas to choose from.
Outside of real estate, what do you enjoy?
I love spending time with my children and grandkids. Something else I thoroughly enjoy is exploring. Whether abroad or in the state of Texas, I always love seeing what is waiting just around the corner.
The perfect spot to take in the views and snap a few pictures, Rough Hollow Yacht Club made sense to Linda that her photoshoot take place there. Who wouldn’t look for any opportunity to savor a stunning lake view?

What do you appreciate the most about lakeside living?
I can’t think of anywhere else I would rather be than on Lake LBJ! It truly is my favorite place on earth. Being able to step out the door and be greeted by the lake is more than enough to soothe the soul. And with a constant water level throughout the year, residents never have to worry about missing out on a little splash of fun.
Which restaurants with lake views do you recommend?
My favorite is Boat Town Burger Bar! They serve great food, burgers and ice-cold beer. Patrons can boat up or drive in and, with its excellent location, you can enjoy live music and even watch the 4th of July fireworks! Bay View Restaurant also has fantastic food and beautiful views over Lake LBJ.
What do you enjoy in your free time?
I love boating; sunset cruises are the best!
