Live music, outdoor theater, vintage finds and more ways to spend August 15–17 in Austin

With school starting next week and a forecast calling for sunny skies and highs in the upper 90s, this weekend offers a last chance to soak up summer before the fall routine sets in. Whether that means poolside lounging, live music under the stars, or a night at the stadium, here are a few ways to spend it.

Uptown Sports Club & Meanwhile Brewing’s Backyard BBQ – Old School BBQ Night

Friday, Aug. 15, 6 p.m., Meanwhile Brewing, 3901 Promontory Point Drive

Two Austin favorites team up for a night of barbecue and music with Franklin BBQ’s Aaron Franklin and Loro’s Mike Perez on the grill, plus Uptown Sports Club specials and dessert by Diana Philibert. Tickets includes a “Custom Lager” from Meanwhile, with a limited-edition cocktail and draft beer inspired by the menu also on tap. DJ SHPGRL spins vinyl during dinner, followed by a live set from Honey Made. Local vendors, including Howler Bros and The Green Room, will set up shop, and $20 from each ticket benefits the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund. All ages; tickets are $63.14.

Band Together Texas

Sunday, Aug. 17, 7 p.m., Moody Center, 2001 Robert Dedman Drive

An all-star lineup of Texas talent will take the stage to raise funds for communities hit hard by recent flooding. Performers include Miranda Lambert, Kelly Clarkson, Cody Johnson, Lyle Lovett, Ryan Bingham, Parker McCollum, Wade Bowen, Ronnie Dunn and more. The night will also see appearances from Matthew McConaughey, Dennis Quaid, Vince Young and other notable Texans. Proceeds benefit the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country and the Central Texas Community Foundation. Tickets start at $130.

66th Annual Zilker Summer Musical: “Bring It On”

Thursday–Saturday, Aug. 14–16, 8:15 p.m., Zilker Hillside Theatre

The final weekend of this year’s Zilker Summer Musical delivers high-flying cheer stunts, catchy songs and plenty of energy. Based on the 2000s cult film, the show is free and open to the public. Just bring a blanket, a picnic and friends.

Austin FC vs. FC Dallas

Saturday, Aug. 16, 7:30 p.m., Q2 Stadium, 10414 McKalla Place

Verde meets red in this rivalry match at home. Expect a packed house, high energy and plenty to cheer for. Tickets start at $80.

City-Wide Vintage Sale

Saturday, Aug. 16, 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m.; Sunday, Aug. 17, 11 a.m.–5 p.m., Palmer Events Center, 900 Barton Springs Road

Browse 45,000 square feet of vintage furniture, clothing, collectibles and curiosities at Austin’s longest-running vintage market. Admission is $10 for adults; free for kids 12 and under.

Poolside Sunset Cinema: “Before Sunrise”

Richard Linklater’s 1995 romantic drama gets the poolside treatment. Bring a float, towel, and an appetite for snacks and nostalgia. General admission includes pool access; VIP packages available. Tickets start at $30.

“The Wizard of Oz”

ZACH Theatre’s “The Wizard of Oz” reimagines the classic with a Dust Bowl-era cowboy band, shimmering mirror ball scenes, and immersive ZACH360 staging that puts the audience right in the middle of the action. Suitable for ages 5 and up, this fresh take on the timeless story is a family-friendly adventure from start to finish. Tickets start at $30.
