Over 300 supporters, community leaders and partners filled the Junior League of Austin on September 28 for the 11th Annual A Night of Hope Gala, an inspiring celebration of partnership, resilience and healing. Together, attendees raised an impressive $306,000 to support survivors of sexual exploitation and human trafficking across Central Texas.

The evening began with words from Red Oak Hope’s Director of Program Development, Heather Moga, who shared the meaning behind the organization’s name: Red for its beginnings in red light districts, Oak for strength and resilience, and Hope as the foundation of all its work. She reminded the audience that while human trafficking affects hundreds of thousands of Texans daily, community-driven collaboration can help survivors reclaim their futures through safe housing, holistic support and compassionate care.

Awards, advocacy and acts of care

The program also featured Caitlin Gomez, Human Trafficking Specialist with Ascension Texas Human Trafficking Prevention Hub, who highlighted the crucial role healthcare providers play in recognizing and supporting survivors. A new tradition was also introduced this year: the Founder’s Award for Partnership and Movement Building. The inaugural honor went to Jason Spees, recognized for his national leadership in anti-trafficking research and for providing two years of pro bono medical care to Red Oak Hope clients.

Executive Director Haley Patterson closed the evening with a powerful reminder that healing for survivors is marked by grit, complexity and courageous steps forward. It takes grit to trust, navigate unseen struggles, make brave choices and take the small steps that lead to healing. Every day, survivors demonstrate their resilience and strength as they heal from exploitation.

An evening of impact and gratitude

Excitement ran high during the live auction, led by the spirited team at Cowboy Auctioneers. Guests bid generously on exclusive packages and experiences, fueling the night’s momentum and furthering Red Oak Hope’s mission. The auction not only raised critical funds but also highlighted the organization’s passion for building a future of freedom, hope and restoration for survivors.

This unforgettable evening was made possible through the generous support of many sponsors, notably The Cardwell Family, this year’s Beacon of Hope Sponsor. With hearts full of gratitude, Red Oak Hope celebrated a record-breaking evening of generosity, underscoring the power of community to create lasting freedom and restoration.
