Aaron Franklin’s Uptown Sports Club will host a first anniversary celebration on Saturday, April 6 featuring specials on Uptown favorites from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and a crawfish boil and jambalaya with local powerhouse chefs Sarah McIntosh of Épicerie and Todd Duplechan of Lenoir, beginning at 11 a.m. until sell-out. The event will be first-come first-serve, with limited reservations for large parties available via OpenTable.
Reminiscent of a summer backyard cookout, Aaron Franklin welcomes friends and fellow Austin chefs Sarah McIntosh of neighborhood bistro Epicerie and Todd Duplechan of fine-dining wine garden Lenoir for an all-day cookoff on Uptown’s breezy back patio. Chef McIntosh’s crawfish boil will include a heaping portion of crawfish, corn cobs, potatoes, mushrooms, and Franklin Barbecue sausage. Slow-cooked on a large cast iron skillet, Chef Duplechan will offer homemade Cajun brown jambalaya with smoked andouille sausage and Tasso ham, served with remoulade and crackers. Crawfish and jambalaya will be served beginning at 11 a.m. on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Guests are invited to grab a table or seat at the bar to enjoy one-day specials such as $5 bowls of gumbo, $7 single-patty and $10 double-patty Uptown Smash Burgers (with griddled onion, yellow American Cheese and mayonnaise), and half-price po’boys – including the Hot Roast Beef Po’boy, Shrimp Po’boy, Sports Club Po’boy and Fried Green Tomato Po’boy. Drink specials will include a frozen Field of Dream and Painkiller, served in commemorative stadium cups. Buckets of beer will also be available for purchase for $10.
