The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee runs Sept. 12–28 at Penfold Theatre in Round Rock. The Tony Award-winning musical comedy, with music and lyrics by William Finn and a book by Rachel Sheinkin, follows a group of ambitious young students, played by adult actors, as they compete in their small-town spelling bee. Directed by Scott Shipman with musical direction by Susan Finnigan, the production highlights the humor, heart and hopes behind the competition.
