In honor of its 75th anniversary, The University of Texas Press is hosting a literary event on Sunday, September 21, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Austin Central Library’s Special Event Center. Free and open to the public, The University of Texas Press at 75: A Celebration of Books and Ideas will feature a full day of conversations with acclaimed authors, thought-provoking panels, and a celebration of the press’s impact on Texas culture and beyond.

The festivities will kick off with a special proclamation from Austin Mayor Kirk Watson declaring September 21 as University of Texas Press Day, followed by a full day of conversations that reflect the press’s far-reaching catalog and cultural impact.

Program Highlights Include:
– Sarah Bird on her UT Press publications
– David Hillis & Asher Elbein on nature and conservation in Texas
– Dr. Leonard Moore & Michael Hurd discussing football and culture
– Lisa Keefauver in conversation with Dr. Art Markman from Two Guys on Your Head
– Toni Tipton-Martin on her landmark culinary work
– Stephen Harrigan in dialogue with Rachel Monroe
– Hanif Abdurraqib & Jessica Hopper on the American Music Series
