Eight years ago, Michael McCollum Adams and her husband were indulging in some much deserved relaxation on their babymoon at the Little Nell in Aspen and kicking around some baby names for their first child, a daughter, who would soon be joining their family. They landed on “Anderson,” thanks to Adams’ aunt — a Westlake mom herself — and started discussing middle names. Adams threw out “Parker” after her younger brother, and “Anderson Parker” stuck.

“My husband, a tech guru, loved it and immediately said it sounded like a children’s boutique,” says Adams. “While we were sitting outside just enjoying the Little Nell, he hopped online and bought the domain for ‘Shop Anderson Parker’ and ‘Shop AP.’ That was the last thing on my mind, but I’m glad he thought of it.”

Fast forward a few years, and the couple now has four kids — ages seven, six, four and three. They moved to Westlake two years ago after spending 16 years in Washington D.C., where Adams was working in politics.

How Anderson Parker came to be

“I had been working in politics and was looking for a passion project that was a bit more light-hearted,” says Adams. “Then, at the start of January 2024, we got the notification that the domain for Anderson Parker was going to expire. It’s like it was fate.”

Adams got to work. Her first call? Her stepmom, Meredith McCollum, who had wanted to learn monogramming. They now have three, 20-needle monogramming machines to be able to provide in-house monogramming.

“I’ve been dressing kids for seven years,” says Adams. “There’s not a kids clothing line I don’t know. I know all the buttons, zippers, snaps, sizing, materials and how they launder. I’ve basically been doing market research for seven years, so I wasn’t intimidated by the market and knew exactly which lines I wanted to carry. I think this really helped me get the boutique off the ground quickly.”

And, quickly, she did. Adams signed her lease in August 2024 and opened Anderson Parker’s doors in March 2025.

Thoughtful, personalized gifts

Despite only being open for two and a half months, Adams says the boutique has had a warm welcome from the Austin community. They now offer premium clothing and gifts for newborns up to size 10. Beloved and high-quality brands include The Beaufort Bonnet Company, James & Lottie, Florence Eiseman, Courtside Kids and more. Within 30 days, Adams processed her 1,000th order.

“When we hit that milestone, I think I took a deep breath,” says Adams. “It was like, okay, people want this! Now it’s just about building on that. We do a lot of fun local events and support other small businesses and other mom-owned businesses, which is a lot of fun.”

One of Anderson Parker’s most used features is their effortless baby-gifting concierge service. Just text the store with a few details — your budget, name/gender of the baby and any other requests — and they’ll pull together a few options for you, curating a perfect, beautifully packaged baby gift bundle that can be shipped or picked up. Thanks to Meredith, you can, of course, personalize the gifts with Anderson Parker’s fast, in-house monogramming service.

Anderson Parker is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturdays. You can also chat with a team member 24/7 by texting their store number, or shop anytime online with them. Anderson Parker provides local delivery and porch drop for orders over $75 up to five miles from the store.
