When ByGeorge announced the closure of its South Congress location earlier this year, the Austin-based boutique hinted at something new on the horizon. That new chapter begins June 3 with the opening of Westside Market, a 10,000-square-foot space at 1214 West 6th Street that brings together fashion, food, design and art under one roof.

The multi-brand hub is described in a recent press release as “a marketplace for discovery, expression, and creativity.” Leading the project is Maggie Fox, a member of the ByGeorge team and co-owner of Filth Mart, who is helping shape the vision for a space that brings together a curated mix of local and independent brands.

Westside Market grand opening

To celebrate the launch, Westside Market will host an opening party on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m., featuring drinks, music and the debut of “Inside Out,” a group show curated by Martha’s Gallery that highlights the work of emerging local artists.

The project marks a new chapter for ByGeorge, which first opened in Austin in 1979 and has long been regarded as a pillar of the city’s fashion landscape. Westside Market will be open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Follow along for more updates on their website and Instagram.
