Cristina Facundo is one busy lady – the mama, wardrobe stylist and creator of online publication Love Child – is about to embark on her newest venture, Mini Market. The one-day (free!) pop-up shop, situated within the South Congress Hotel, will be filled with goods for moms and their kids. Facundo envisions the event as a fun chance to spend the day with your girlfriends, and explains that the event will be “kid friendly but not kid focused.”
The idea for Mini Market sprung out of Love Child’s strong digital community and Facundo’s desire to turn that energy into a real community. She felt there was a need for a space where women could come and shop for themselves and their families while also connecting with one another and on-site vendors.
While the pop-up idea has been in the works for six months it wasn’t until the South Congress Hotel signed on that Facundo felt confident her original vision of a “fun and easy day out” would come together. This excitement was doubly cemented when 20 local vendors, handpicked by Facundo, immediately signed on to participate. Once those original vendors were committed, the stylist realized there was the space and opportunity for a larger group that could also include businesses based outside of Austin.
The diverse group of stockists ranges from sustainable and chic Unravel Co. to kid wear specialists Classic Childhood. Guests can look forward to gift bags (first 20 to arrive!) and cocktails plus endless pre or post-shopping South Congress brunch options.
While Facundo can’t help already thinking over plans for an expanded pre-holiday pop-up, at the moment she has her sights set on this Sunday’s Mini Market which will bring together a community of friends, mothers and makers.
