Nicole Trunfio Introduces Sustainable Swimsuits with ERTH Swim

The Australian supermodel and Austin resident’s eco-friendly line fits women with “real curves”

ERTH Swim hopes to save our oceans, one swimsuit at a time.

The sustainable, body-conscious swimwear line is the latest venture for Australian model-turned-entrepreneur Nicole Trunfio.

Trunfio who graced the cover of Tribeza’s September Issue last year   has a passion for sustainable fashion. She’s founded several brands, including her eco-friendly jewelry line, ERTH Jewelry, and a stylish maternity line called BUMPSUIT.

Now, the forever Aussie girl is channeling her deep love for the ocean by launching a swim line that repurposes waste found in the oceans into high-quality fabrics. The entire ERTH Swim collection is made of 100 percent regenerated and regenerable nylon econyl yarn.

“The beach is such a healing place to me,” Trunfio says. “Anytime I feel like I need to ground myself or cleanse, I’ll go to the ocean … So, this fabric that comes from abandoned fishing nets is the fabric we use for the swimsuits. By selling swimsuits, we’re cleaning up the ocean, which is an incredible thing to do.”

Trunfio also wanted to create a shapewear-like swimwear that compliments all body types and could be worn at the beach, the pool or at much drier places.

“Right now, because it’s summertime in Texas, all I wear is a swimsuit,” Trunfio says. “I wanted to design swimwear that you could actually wear with just a pair of jeans or shorts.”

Currently, the ERTH Swim collection contains nine mix-and-match silhouettes that come in two colors, Midnight and Nero. These pieces are timeless classics that can become staple pieces in any summer wardrobe. Plus, the swimsuits are sun protective with a UPF of 50, which is perfect for sun-soaked Austin summers that are filled with hiking trails and swimming.

“It’s such a great time to be designing swimsuits for the female form,” Trunfio says. “We’re going into this space where we want to see real women and real bodies and real curves.”

Trunfio’s go-to looks from the collection so far are a long-sleeve, one-piece suit named The Diver, and a two-piece set that’s “a string bikini with incredible coverage” called The Golden Hour.

“The Diver stands out to me,” Trunfio says. “It’s got the waterproof zipper so you can adjust that to any height, depending on your body type, and it’s a really high cut so you can wear it as a bodysuit.”

Trunfio, whose swimwear line debuted online in July, modeled the entire collection at her Austin ranch, where she lives with her three children and husband, Gary Clark Jr.

ERTH Swim will be coming out with new colors throughout the summer and the entire collection can be found on the line’s website.
