Discover Flourish, the New Plant Shop and Wine Bar Opening in Austin This Month

A plant shop and wine bar in one, Flourish opens Oct. 24 on Airport Boulevard, bringing together retail botanicals and by-the-glass wine service in a shared space.

The concept is the brainchild of longtime friends Rachel Roberts and Dale Ellington, who combine decades of experience in hospitality and wine. Roberts, a lifelong Austinite, brings in-depth knowledge of local institutions, including Fonda San Miguel and Tacodeli. After stepping away from the restaurant world, she launched a plant shop on North Loop that evolved into a thriving curation business. With Flourish, she merges plant design and hospitality under one roof.

Grand opening celebration

The grand opening runs from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., starting with a ribbon cutting, followed by a local artists’ pop-up market, happy hour specials, and an evening party to close out the day.

Ellington, who brings more than 13 years of wine expertise, helped shape the shop’s guiding approach. “The belief that wine should bring joy, not intimidation, is what led us to create Flourish,” he said. “We wanted to build a place that felt like an exhale. A space where people could be surrounded by natural beauty, drink incredible wines, and actually relax. A plant and wine spa, if you will.”

Inside, guests can browse a curated selection of houseplants and gifts while exploring the wine menu, designed to reflect Ellington’s accessible philosophy. The rotating By the Glass list includes more than two dozen reds, whites and sparkling options. The “By the Bottle” menu spans both classic and emerging regions — including France, Italy, Spain, Austria, South Africa, Texas and women-led wineries — featuring selections from crisp Loire Valley Sancerres to playful pét-nats.

Shareable snacks and wine club perks

A small-plates menu complements the wine list with shareable boards, preserved seafood, and refined snacks such as Castelvetrano olives, Marcona almonds, and housemade potato chips. Notable pairings include Cantabrian anchovies with baguettes and cornichons, as well as a playful dessert match: Oreo cookies with cream sherry or a Snickers bar with Rare Wine Co. Bual Madeira.

Flourish will also introduce a membership program, the Cool Kids Membership, which includes members-only happy hour Monday through Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m., 15% off all plants, 10% off wine club memberships, and access to exclusive tastings, workshops, and seasonal events.

Starting Oct. 24, Flourish will be open Sunday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
