Michelin-Caliber Aburi Oshi Sushi Arrives in Austin
This top-tier takeout experience debuts September 20, bringing flame-seared delicacies and a fusion of Japanese tradition with Austin-inspired flavors
From Tokyo to Toronto, Aburi Oshi Sushi will make its North American debut this fall, landing in Austin on September 20. The brainchild of the acclaimed Aburi Restaurant Group, it is a welcome addition to Austin’s ever-changing culinary repertoire, promising to reinvent and elevate takeout dining to the Michelin star level.
Aburi Restaurants are familiar with culinary excellence, proudly owning Canada’s first Michelin-starred sushi restaurant, Aburi Hana. Now, with their sights set on conquering the American market, Austin is a perfect match. Where rich tradition intersects with vibrant innovation, the city aligns to be the perfect launchpad for the new venture.
The allure of Aburi Oshi lies in its signature flame-searing technique, pioneered by founder Seigo Nakamura. It is a method that transforms traditional Japanese-style sushi into something new. A fan favorite, the Aburi Salmon Oshi, features Sockeye salmon paired with a proprietary “Miku” sauce and garnished with jalapeño and black pepper. Its distinguished flavor profile won hearts and taste buds across Canada and Japan. However, the Austin-exclusive menu features a diverse selection that will surely distinguish itself with nods to local flavor. The Aburi Yellowtail Oshi seamlessly integrates Japanese technique with Mexican-inspired ingredients, featuring yellowtail, cilantro, fresh avocado sauce and serrano pepper, a unique fusion that captures Austin’s Latin culinary spirit.

With its center of operations at Cloud Kitchens at 5610 N. Interstate Highway 35, Aburi Oshi is innovating the takeout dining experience, with no compromise on quality. From 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, Austinites can treat themselves to Michelin-caliber sushi from anywhere. Aburi Oshi aims to be a new staple in town for a premium sushi experience, whether it be for a casual lunch, a high-stakes dinner date, or an office party.
Backed by a legacy of innovation and excellence, Aburi Oshi is a testament to founder Seigo Nakamura’s journey from a small family sushi shop in Miyazaki, Japan, to international culinary fame. With successful ventures across Japan and Canada and Michelin Guide-recommended restaurants, Aburi brings a culinary movement of innovation and excellence to Austin.
“We are honored to introduce our flame-seared style of sushi to Austin, and to add to the vibrant food scene here,” says Kazuki Uchigoshi, Aburi Corporate Chef, “Our expansion outside of Canada marks a significant milestone for us, and we’re thrilled to be a part of the Austin and overall Texas dining community.”
As Austin’s food scene continues to expand, Aburi Oshi Sushi is poised to bring fine dining into takeout, come Sept. 20, with a sushi experience that blends tradition and innovation much like Austin itself.
