Scenic Bites
Spring brings with it a lust for outdoor adventures. Date night dinners by candlelight lend themselves to late night cocktails under the stars. Take advantage of the outdoor patios near you to spice up date night, girl’s day out or just any day. Here are a couple of the Tribeza team’s favorite patios.
Who: Liz Arnold, Senior Account Executive
Where: El Arroyo
Why: “Who can resist $2 Thursday margaritas? I can’t.”
Who: Staley Moore, Social Media Manager
Where: The balcony of her apartment!
Why: “It overlooks Auditorium Shores + Lady Bird Lake, so we’re always out there for sunset and when there’s a show or event in the park, we get a free ticket!”
Who: Anne Bruno, Associate Editor
Where: Julio’s
Why: “Located in the ancient (in the very best way) Hyde Park neighborhood shopping center at Duval & 43rd St., A laundromat, bakery, grocery store, mobile library, gelato shop and cheese shop all clustered together make for excellent people watching, day or night. Best roasted chicken tacos, mango margaritas and Mexican martini anywhere.”
Who: Joanna Steblay, Account executive
Where: Perla’s
Why: “Perla’s is my favorite place to kick back for a long summer afternoon. Order their seasonal frozen drink to accompany ceviche, or a bottle of rosé, and you’re set until sun-down.”
Who: Anna Anderson, Editor
Where: Weather Up
Why: “They’re pretty laid back and have great drinks!”
Who: George Elliman, Publisher
Where: Gusto Italian Kitchen + Wine Bar
Why: “I love the Gusto patio! It is recently renovated with stylish new outdoor furniture including 2 super comfortable lounge seating areas and it is dog friendly, so Logan can come too. Everything is delicious, but I like ordering the mussels or the arancini and a glass of rose to start.”
Who: Holly Cowart, Editorial Assistant
Where: Banger’s Sausage House & Beer Garden
Why: “I love the communal atmosphere. Right on the edge of Rainey St, the energy always feels vibrant accompanied with an environment that’s so distinct within Austin’s social scene.”
Who: Hannah Zieschang, Editorial Coordinator
Where: Little Deli & Pizzeria
Why: “They have the cutest patio nestled under trees and cafe lights. Share a greek salad, grab a slice of hand tossed pizza (including GF options!) and finish with a chewy chocolate walnut cookie or two.”
Who: Defne Comlek, Intern
Where: Whisler’s
Why: “One of my favorite patios for craft cocktails & evenings with my gal pals. Their signature drink Freya’s Cloak is delicious and you can never go wrong with a Moscow Mule. Late night vibes at Whisler’s consists of string lights, good music and friendly crowds.”
Who: Khortlyn Cole, Intern
Where: Olive and June
Why: “With a three-tiered outdoor patio, Olive and June’s show stopping deck provides for the perfect happy hour atmosphere. Focusing on serving and showcasing their Italian roots, the wine (Pinot Grigio is my personal fave) is top notch combined with a bite of the cheese platter or pork meatballs.”
