Step Inside Elysian Head Spa for a Rejuvenating ‘Facial for Your Scalp’
This Austin scalp sanctuary invites you to reset, rejuvenate and improve your hair and scalp health

Elysian Head Spa is far from a typical spa — it’s an oasis where advanced hair and scalp care meets deep relaxation. Nestled in a cute 1930s Clarksville bungalow, the spa combines traditional wellness techniques with cutting-edge technology to provide clients with a transformative experience for both their hair and overall well-being.
Inspired by a visit to Japan
After enjoying head spa services in Japan, co-owner Katie Willis was inspired to bring this type of “facial for the scalp” experience to Austin. Willis and co-owner Laura Kirby envisioned a space where clients would indulge in calming therapies, while learning about scalp and hair health, providing both science-backed results and long-term benefits.
Elysian Head Spa is designed to promote a sense of tranquility
Thoughtfully crafted to foster serenity, Elysian was designed to cater to comfort and tranquility. In fact, for many clients struggling with the sensitive issue of hair loss or thinning due to hormones, postpartum changes or medical conditions, a compassionate and understanding environment is an essential complement to their hair growth journey.
“Our space is intentionally designed to feel like you’re in our home,” notes Willis. “From the relaxing, communal space where we build relationships, to the intimate setting of our head spa rooms, we hope that our clients feel supported and cared for.”
Of course, Elysian is not just a space for those with hair damage or loss. Head spa services are offered for everyone — those with thick heads of hair, those looking for shinier hair or volume and those just looking for a soothing experience. It’s a retreat where clients can reset and rejuvenate.

Start with a fascinating scalp analysis
A visit begins with the Trichoscope scalp analysis to ensure that each client receives a customized solution for their unique needs. Using a specialized camera, each spa technician can examine the client’s hair follicles. This non-invasive diagnostic tool magnifies and captures images of the scalp to help detect any issues such as inflammation, buildup, dryness or oiliness. The analysis helps in creating a personalized treatment plan for hair and scalp care.
Choose from a variety of services
After the analysis, clients can indulge in a variety of signature services such as The Alchemist, a deep cleansing treatment that removes product buildup and restores balance, or The Retreat, which includes a gentle exfoliation along with massage and aromatherapy designed to relieve tension. The Bespoke treatment allows for complete customization, addressing specific concerns like stress relief, scalp health or hair texture. Add-ons like infrared therapy and KNESKO facial masks elevate each session for a complete rejuvenating experience.
Learn about hair restoration
Along with these luxurious services, Elysian is also the first Austin spa to offer FoLix Hair Restoration, an FDA-approved, non-invasive laser solution that helps promote growth. Willis, who previously worked in the medical field as a nurse practitioner, has been incredibly impressed by how transformative the results can be.
“I have a young female client with longstanding hair loss, including a large scar from her psoriasis,” shares Willis. “She’s been hiding her hair loss under baseball caps and with pony tails for years, unsure of any viable treatment options. Knowing we can’t grow hair on the scar, we set the goal to increase fullness and volume in the areas where hair is growing, decreasing the visible impact of the scarred areas. We have now done four FoLix sessions and two head spa treatments and the growth and fullness in her hair is incredible to see. Yesterday, she posted a video of herself with her hair down, swinging it back and forth with the caption about how great her hair feels! Seeing her growing confidence is really incredible and rewarding.”

As for Austin’s response to its first local head spa? Willis shares that reactions have been quite positive.
“The energy and level of engagement and support has been a great motivator for us,” she says. “We often have clients who visit and leave saying, ‘I can’t wait to tell everyone I know about this place!’”
Kirby adds that Elysian is more than just a place for scalp and hair care, but it’s also just a space for clients “to feel inspired to slow down and take care of themselves, from roots to ends.”
