Affordable Art Fair Austin Returns This May With Works Starting at $100

Turning the paradigm of an art fair on its head, Affordable Art Fair is anything but overwhelming or pretentious. From May 14-17 at Palmer Events Center, the four-day event will bring together more than 55 local, regional and international galleries, along with live art, community programming and even fitness classes, to make collecting and experiencing art feel more accessible.
Fair visitors can explore thousands of contemporary artworks priced from $100 to $12,000. From paintings and prints to sculpture and photography, Affordable Art Fair creates an inviting environment for first-time buyers and seasoned collectors alike to discover and connect with art. At its heart, that’s what the fair is all about: making art feel open, personal and within reach.
This year, the fair will deepen its community impact through a partnership with Dell Children’s Medical Center. Throughout the weekend, Austin-based artists Ash Almonte, Mila Sketch, Jet Baker and Karen Goddard will create live paintings on-site as part of the hospital’s Art & Music Therapy Program. Once completed, each artwork will be raffled to attendees who donate during the fair, with proceeds benefiting the program. The activation offers visitors a chance to engage with art in real time while supporting creativity and healing for young patients and their families.

Adding another distinctly Austin perspective, Bob Schneider will present a collection of visual artwork through Wexel Art Gallery. Known widely for his music career, Schneider’s participation offers a rare look at his multidisciplinary creative practice. His mixed-media works transform found imagery, from vintage books to comic visuals, into layered compositions that explore pop culture, perception and storytelling. Much like his music, Schneider’s art blends influences in unexpected ways, inviting viewers to interpret and engage with each piece on their own terms.
There’s truly something for everyone at the fair — even a Hot Girl Pilates class. Guests can also attend a panel discussion on “How Art Supports Wellbeing,” color in a collaborative mural by ROXEHA, take part in family-friendly programming and connect directly with artists and galleries throughout the weekend.
Kido Preschool will also return as the Family Hours sponsor, allowing parents and kids to navigate the fair with a little more ease. The preschool will also offer engaging art projects for younger fairgoers. Local plant and wine shop Flourish will bring a touch of nature to the weekend, providing greenery throughout the venue to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
