Barbie Bombards Austin with Pink Pop-ups and Parties

Join the frivolous fun as Barbie-mania takes over

One of the most anticipated movie releases of the summer is here, and Austin businesses have been joining the celebration of all things Barbie. The film, directed by Greta Gerwig, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, has inspired parties aplenty, along with pink cocktails, sweet treats, and special jewelry collections, too. Here’s where to enjoy some Barbie moments around Austin.

Barbie Bites & Beverages

Las Bis, the terrace bar and lounge in the Hyatt Centric Congress Avenue Austin hotel, is serving the Barbie-licious Cosmo (a pink cocktail with Grand Marnier, vodka, a lemon and lime Oleo Saccharum sherbert, topped with pink lemon) and Barbie’s Blini Bites (made with hibiscus and topped with smoked trout roe and a lemon crema) now through July 23.

On Thursday, July 20 through Saturday July 22, Garbo’s On Lamar will feature Barbie Lobster Rolls created using specially-made pink buns from EasyTiger, edible glitter, edible flowers with the option to add their signature caviar. A percentage of sales from Garbo’s Barbie Lobster Rolls will be donated to Planned Parenthood.

Lefty’s Brick Bar will be serving Barbie-inspired cocktails from July 21 – August 20 featuring Come on Barbie, Let’s Go Party (gin, Aperol, grapefruit, pink peppercorn, edible glitter), a Malibu DreamHouse (frozen painkiller with bright pink swirl, whipped cream, sprinkles), and a non-alcoholic option, Life in Plastic (sweet and sour, grenadine, pineapple juice, ginger beer).

Texas’ first gourmet marshmallow shoppe, The Fancy Marshmallow Co. in Cedar Park will be offering a a special Marshmallow Collection now through July 22 where you can indulge in many Barbie-themed marshmallows or quench your thirst with a refreshing Float Drink (pink Italian soda, with whipped marshmallow cream and pink sprinkles).

Order a Barbie cake from SusieCakes, and choose from three different dolls and your choice of sprinkles, cake flavor and buttercream.

Pops of Pink Around Austin

The luxury downtown hotel, Fairmont Austin, will be lighting their crown pink in the evenings through July 21, as well as offering film-inspired cocktails at their Rules & Regs restaurant.

Barbie Parties

The Lake Creek location of Austin’s favorite arcade, Pinballz, is hosting a costume contest on July 20 where you can strut across their stage showing off your best Barbie attire. A kids contest begins at 7 p.m. followed by a session for adults at 8 p.m.

Bouldin Acres is hosting an all-day Let’s Go Party Barbie-themed event on July 22 featuring a costume contest, face painting, photo ops, and food and drink specials.

Austin’s sparkly disco ball adorned dance club, Superstition, is hosting a Barbie Dance Party on July 22 with DJ Cassandra, Vida Valentina, and LOLA.

Lefty’s Brick Bar will be hosting a special Barbie-themed Drag Queen Bingo on July 26 from 7-9 p.m., where you are encouraged to dress in your Barbie best.
