Duran Duran Delivers Memorable Performance to Austin’s Moody Center

With the help of openers Bastille and Nile Rodgers & CHIC, Duran Duran brought the hits to the music capital

When Duran Duran revealed that they would be hitting the road this summer on their North American The Future Past Tour, there was no doubt the experience would be epic. Produced by Live Nation, the show landed in Austin on Tuesday, June 6th, at Moody Center, blowing all expectations.

Bastille and Nile Rodgers & CHIC opened for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame group, making it an energetic show from start to finish for a packed crowd of fans. To kick off their headlining set, the British rock band quickly dispatched several of their biggest hits, including “Hungry Like the Wolf,” “Girls on Film,” “Notorious” and “A View to a Kill.” In a career-spanning sequence befitting the ethos behind their 2021 album, “FUTURE PAST,” Duran Duran reached as far back as their 1981 debut single “Planet Earth,” while touching on key eras with tracks like 1984’s “The Reflex,” 1993’s “Ordinary World,” and their latest “ANNIVERSARY.”

Their diverse set list was an impressive mix of old and new hits that makes the legendary band so entertaining for their loyal fan base.

“It’s remarkable to me that as a band, we are still hitting new milestones, and introducing the sound of Duran Duran to new generations of music lovers,” lead singer Simon Le Bon says of the tour. “We are truly grateful that we get to do what we do on a daily basis, and that we still love our job as much as we did when we started out some four decades ago.”

Duran Duran will continue their North American trek through September with support from Grace Jones, Nile Rodgers & Chic, and Bastille. Their ATX stop was a welcome addition to the capital city’s buzzing live music scene this summer.
