It’s been a difficult year. But now that the season of giving is underway, it’s time to support local businesses if you can.

The 2ND Street District is excited to announce the return of its annual, month-long “December in the District” celebration. Festivities will kick off on Friday, November 27, with the tenth annual Holiday Window Walk. Austinites are asked to maintain social-distancing practices while watching participating storefronts like Luxe Apothetique, Sneaker Politics, CRÚ, Austin Rocks, Bonobos and OrangeTheory Fitness transform into magical holiday scenes designed by St. Edwards University students.

The winning design will be selected and a $3,000 scholarship awarded to the designer behind the creation. A second-place winner will collect a $2,000 scholarship, and the contestant in third will win $1,000. The student who takes the most votes from the public will receive $500.

Holiday Window Walk visitors can cast their votes on the 2ND Street District Facebook Page starting on Tuesday, December 1, and have until midnight on December 16 to choose their favorite installation. The winners will be announced through 2ND Street District’s social media platforms.

The Holiday Passport, a new feature created in partnership with the Downtown Austin Alliance, is a pocket-size guide containing special deals, discounts and activities that will make exploring downtown Austin and shopping local a breeze during the holidays.

Participants can collect stamps in exchange to be entered in drawings for prize packages. The grand prize features a New Year’s Eve Downtown Austin staycation, which includes a two-night stay at The W Hotel, spa treatments at the AWAY Spa, a gift certificate for dinner at TRACE, plus a backstage tour of ACL Live.

Passports can be downloaded online on November 27 or can be picked up at participating businesses.
