While the entire Austin area is excitedly anticipating the the biggest event of the month — the total solar eclipse on April 8th — there are many more thrilling special events and activities coming up throughout April. From high-flying kites to musical theatre, garden parties, home tours, and festivals galore, there is plenty to keep you busy and entertained this April in Austin.

The Prom

In desperate search of a new stage, four washed-up Broadway stars rally behind a small-town prom facing controversy. As they aim to shine a light on themselves, they encounter a brave girl fighting for her right to bring her girlfriend to the school prom.

Moontower Just For Laughs Comedy Festival

ABC Kite Fest

Art of Kindness 2024 Community Day

Gather the kids and friends from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. for a family-friendly celebration of kindness that includes access to food, art, music, and fun galore! Each ticket Includes food and drinks, balloon art, face-painting, live music, a photo booth and plenty of fun surprises!

Our Texas, Our Future Festival

Moody Amphitheater, Waterloo Park
April 21

Waterloo Greenway and H-E-B present the Our Texas, Our Future Wildlife & Environmental Festival at Waterloo Park from 12 – 5 p.m. This free festival is a celebration of Texas’ beautiful parks, resilient wildlife, and the Texans helping conserve & protect them for future generations. The festival will feature interactive exhibits, wildlife demonstrations, sustainability workshops, guided garden tours, and a variety of hands-on art and STEM workshops.

Preservation Austin’s Spring Homes Tour

Preservation Austin’s annual home tour event will take guests on a one-of-a-kind, specially curated tour of iconic historic places that celebrate Austin’s expansive history.  All proceeds, including ticket sales and sponsorships, support our advocacy efforts and educational programming year-round.

12th Annual Mack, Jack & McConaughey

Various locations; Gala at ACL Live at the Moody Theatre
April 25 & 26

Mack, Jack & McConaughey (MJ&M) is the annual joint fundraising effort of Academy Award-winning actor Matthew McConaughey, ACM Award-winning recording artist Jack Ingram, and coaching legend Mack Brown. The two-day fun-filled event offers music at the gala featuring Luke Combs, golf and a fashion show benefiting select non-profit organizations that each reflect the MJ&M goal to empower kids.

Austin Blues Festival

With legendary headliners like Buddy Guy, Brittany Howard, and Jimmie Vaughan, the second year of this Austin Blues Festival stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of blues in Austin’s music landscape. Get tickets for this two-day event.
