Intro to Mahj with Mahj Social Club

Instructors will guide players from scratch, no experience necessary. Take a pause during the busy week and relax over the Mahjong table. Mahjong Games with Mahjong Mafia

On Sunday, May 18, Mahjong Mafia will host a free, beginner-friendly Mahjong session at Meanwhile Brewing. New and experienced players are welcome to join the casual outdoor gathering. Alongside the game tables, a pop-up market featuring local vendors will take place in the beer garden, offering a lively afternoon of community, shopping and play.

Summer Mahjong 101 with Austin Mahjong Social
May 20–July 29, Tuesdays, 6:30–8:30 p.m. at Prelude, 707 W. 10th St. | $135
Beginning May 20, Austin Mahjong Social will host an introduction to Mahjong classes every Tuesday night for their summer series. Each crash course will consist of two hours of instructor-led play including a brief Mahjong history, a rundown of the rules and a chance to get a feel for the game. Tickets include charcuterie bites and a champagne margarita. All supplies are provided.
Mahjong Lessons and Open Play with So Bam Fun
June 8, 4:30–7 p.m. at Bar Peached, 1315 W. Sixth St. | $40–$80
Join So Bam Fun at Bar Peached for both open play ($40) or Mahjong lessons ($80). Open play gives those who’ve already gotten their Mahjong sea legs a chance to play while taking the pressure off to find a group to play with. For beginners, lessons are also available. All tickets include drinks and light bites.
