1. Standup Paddle Boarding
When summer arrives in Austin, we’re all trying to be in or near water as much as we can. SUP is the fastest and easiest way to be out on Lady Bird Lake while enjoying the downtown skyline as a backdrop.
2. Deep Eddy Pool
This unique, clear blue, spring-fed pool has been an Austin gem for more than 100 years. Enjoy the chlorine-free water that stays a cool 68 to 70 degrees all year long. There’s a wading pool that’s perfect for little swimmers and a long lap pool for those wanting to get in a workout.
3. Beyond Van Gogh and Beyond Monet
Step out of the heat and into the masterpieces of Van Gogh and Monet at these immersive art experiences located at the Austin American Statesman building on Congress Avenue. Paintings are brought to life using virtual reality and still images, making this an interesting art exhibit for all ages.
4. Pease Park Splash Pad
If it’s possible for a splash pad to be beautiful, this one is just that. The revitalized Kingsbury Commons at Pease Park features a shaded interactive water feature that will keep the kids cool and happy, and adults should kick off their shoes and enjoy the water too. Before you go, check out Pease Park’s Instagram for hours and closures.
5. Sno-Beach
When the triple digit temps hit, so do the snow cone cravings. This longtime truck located on Sterzing Street near Zilker Park, offers all the classic flavors, plus a few unique ones like Cheesecake, Cotton Candy and Wedding Cake. Takeout orders can be placed online, or there are picnic tables in the parking lot to sit and savor onsite.
