These Inviting Bar Counters Will Make a Regular Out of You

Grizzelda’s

Cheers!

There aren’t many places I’d opt for a backless bar seat over a plush booth, but a select few spots offer the ideal amount of comfort, entertainment, friendly bartender banter, bites and beauty to keep my feet dangling and cup overflowing.

Better Half

Better Half not only has parking for days, but also bar seating galore. With three options – sit in a plush, backed bar chair; stand at the center bar or perch on a stool by the west window – we have no doubt there’s a bar spot to suit your mood.

Clark’s

Small but mighty, Clark’s might just be your perfect match if you enjoy a faint ocean aroma, martinis and caviar with your burger. The sun-filled bar room embraces all the winsome decorative elements of a coastal New England bar, complete with oysters on the half shell.

This vibrant spot has limited bar seating but if given the choice, opt in. Enjoy endless tostadas and guacamole while your new friends behind the bar mix the infamous fuchsia margarita.

Bar Peached

Taking over a historic house on West 6th Street previously occupied by Winflo, is Bar Peached, the Peached Tortilla’s newest concept. Canary-yellow tufted barstools and accents make the bar the focal point of the restaurant. The menu, similar to Peached Tortilla, offers Modern Asian Comfort Food from banh mi tacos to blistered shishitos, with an emphasis on cocktails crafted with clear spirits.

Counter Cafe

Saturday morning hangovers and family brunches are assuaged with a front row seat to the magic-making of Counter Cafe’s pancakes and breakfast tacos. On my last visit I was lucky enough to sit on the spin-stool at the Downtown location, my mouth ajar as nimble chefs played Twister around the griddles and effortlessly perfected each plate.

techo mezcal bar austin

Techo Mezcal Bar

This quaint mezcaleria is tucked above Mi Madre’s on East Manor Road. Albeit small, the charming size and quaint nooks are worth your time. Antiquated décor, a stained-glass window and mystifying art will leave you wanting another copita filled with favorite mezcal.
