Located just a short drive from Austin, Cinnamon Shore in Port Aransas, Texas offers the perfect setting for a family beach vacation. Nestled along the picturesque Gulf Coast, this stunning community blends modern amenities with a laid-back, beachy vibe, making it an ideal destination for families. Our recent stay at one of the beautiful beach houses at Cinnamon Shore South was an unforgettable experience, offering a mix of relaxation, adventure and luxury that everyone – from the adults to the hard-to-please teens – thoroughly enjoyed.

The Beach House: Comfort and Style Combined

The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the beach house itself. While there are many rental options to choose from, including pet-friendly stays, we settled into a gorgeous home named “It’s Sunbelieveable” which was spacious, beautifully designed and fully equipped with all the comforts of home. The house featured airy, open spaces and enough room for everyone to unwind. Whether we were lounging in the living area, enjoying family meals in the gourmet kitchen, or sipping drinks on the spacious deck, the house offered a sanctuary of relaxation with all the high-end touches we could hope for. The teens especially loved the comfortable rooms and the easy access to the beach, allowing them a little freedom to come and go.

Golf Carts: The Fun Way to Get Around

Our family enjoyed zipping around the beach and resort sans car in golf carts, which added an extra layer of fun to the vacation. Whether heading to the beach, to one of the resort’s pools, or exploring the various shops and restaurants, the golf cart was a quick, convenient and entertaining way to move around the property.

Pools & Amenities: Relaxing and Refreshing

Cinnamon Shore is home to a couple of amazing pools that provided a refreshing escape from the Texas heat. At Cinnamon Shore South, we enjoyed unwinding at the adults-only pool while enjoying food and drink service, but you can also hang with the kids in the cute “Splish Splash” family-friendly pool just steps away. With the beach being only a short walk or golf cart ride, it was easy to alternate between soaking up the sun at the pool and enjoying the waves along the shoreline.

In addition to fun in the water, you can also go fishing, play pickleball or basketball, enjoy lawn games, play on the playground, ride bikes, and there’s even an enclosed dog park with a dog-washing station if you bring your furry family members along to your beach trip.

Dining & Shopping

One of our favorite spots for bites was Dylan’s Coal Oven Pizzeria, which served up delicious pies that satisfied even the pickiest of our family’s eaters. For a slightly more upscale dinner, you can opt for Lisabella’s Bistro for fresh seafood and steaks. For daytime bites by the pool, we really enjoyed the casual fare such as nachos and burgers at Coastline Grill. Whether it was grabbing a quick bite before heading to the beach or sitting down for a relaxed dinner, the dining options at Cinnamon Shore were a much-welcomed break from kitchen duties.

Cinnamon Shore also offers a handful of charming shops, including a cute coffee shop for breakfast treats, and boutiques that offer everything from beachwear to the latest fashion trends.

A Luxury Getaway Close to Austin

Perhaps one of the best aspects of Cinnamon Shore is its proximity to Austin. A mere 3.5 to 4-hour drive away, it’s an easy escape. The resort offers all the amenities of a far-flung beach destination but with the convenience of being so close to home. This makes it a perfect spot for families looking for an accessible vacation destination.

With so much to do and enjoy, our family left feeling refreshed and already planning our next trip back.

Texas SandFest, April 25-27: The largest beach sand sculpture competition in the USA is held annually in Port Aransas, and it features amazing large-scale sculptures as well as live music, food, an arts & crafts show and more. Cinnamon Shore is an official sponsor of the event and is offering a Texas SandFest Special Rate when you book a 3-night stay.
