The historic Austin hotel has redesigned and reopened 14 magnificent guest suites
One of Austin’s most iconic hotels has just completed a round of eye-catching renovations. The Driskill, a luxury hotel built in 1886, has updated 14 of its elegant guest suites. The redesign marks the first renovation of the hotel’s rooms since 1998.
“Throughout history, The Driskill has been a legendary landmark in Texas hospitality,” said Chris Collins, General Manager of The Driskill. “We’re excited to invite Texans and visitors alike into the newly updated suites, which have been modernized for maximum comfort but still maintain the same historic charm with their own personality.”

Renovations were led by Austin architecture firm Clayton Korte in partnership with Rottet Studio, a design firm headquartered in Houston, Texas. The high-end suites now feature updated amenities such as clawfoot soaking tubs and walk-in showers. Other new elements, such as opulent fixtures and finishes, repurposed artwork and historic paintings, were added to preserve and enhance the unique aesthetic character of each suite.
The 14 renovated suites are just the beginning of a major investment project at The Driskill. The hotel is also planning upgrades for its remaining 175 guest rooms, slated to begin in September 2022. The hotel says The Driskill Bar will also be refinished .
