Shady Villa Hotel Returns to Its Roots in Salado
The iconic destination reopens under the management of Bunkhouse Group

Shady Villa Hotel, formerly known as Stagecoach Inn, recently reopened in Salado under the management of hospitality group Bunkhouse.
The hotel buildings were originally built in the 1950s, with the most recent renovation being led by architectural firm Clayton Korte. Although many Texans know the hotel as Stagecoach Inn, the hotel’s new name is actually a return to its original namesake of Shady Villa Hotel.

The property features 48 guest rooms and suites, a swimming pool, a restaurant with a full bar and event spaces for different party options. New elements in guest rooms include color schemes with primary colors, updated ceiling fixtures and art from Austin photographer Nick Simonite. The mid-century modern feel of the rooms extend into the lobby, which features relics from the hotel’s historic past and curated retail items in the hotel’s shop.
The hotel is also home to the Stagecoach Restaurant, open all-day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant’s building is considered to be one of the oldest in Texas, with the more historic parts of the space dating back to 1861 alongside an addition in 1941. Produce and meat served at the restaurant are sourced from local farms, combining modern techniques with more traditional Texan and Southern fare.
Located 45 minutes from downtown Austin, Shady Villa offers a welcome reprieve from the city in small-town Salado, which is home to a number of endearing art galleries, breweries and shops. The hotel offers 48 refreshed guest rooms and suites, which are now available for booking.
