Austin nonprofit Raasin in the Sun will launch its new initiative, ART for ALL, with a public workshop on Saturday, Oct. 18, at 2 p.m. at the Austin Central Library.
Founded by creative placemaker Raasin McIntosh, ART for ALL engages individuals experiencing housing or economic insecurity in the creation of public art, offering opportunities for paid collaboration while connecting participants with support services. The program’s first project will develop new murals for the Central Library garage.
The Oct. 18 workshop, led by Future Front Texas Founding Executive Director Jane Hervey and featuring a performance by Zell, Austin’s Poet Laureate, invites community members to share stories and ideas that will directly inform the mural designs. All input will be integrated into an artistic brief for Raasin in the Sun’s artists, ensuring the final works reflect the collective spirit of Austin.
The event is free and open to the public.
