The Austin African American Book Festival returns with a lineup of authors, historians, and cultural thought leaders. This year’s theme, “Our Stories, Our Voices,” centers on the importance of amplifying African American narratives.

Festival highlights include a conversation between best-selling author Walter Mosley and Paul Coates of Black Classic Press, historian Peniel Joseph on his forthcoming book “Freedom Season,” and a talk with Marita Golden and festival founder Rosalind Oliphant about empowering Black writers.

Kids can enjoy storytelling and activities led by children’s author Alice Faye Duncan, inspired by her works “Opal Lee and What It Means to Be Free” and “Yellow Dog Blues.”

Free and open to the public.
