Austin Opera presents the world premiere of “Ofrenda” at the Butler Performance Center on Oct. 1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 9 and 11. Set near Día de los Muertos, the opera follows an immigrant mother whose encounter with death gives her the power to heal, raising questions about sacrifice, family and the cost of a gift. The 90-minute performance is sung in Spanish and English with projected English titles.
