Austin Shakespeare Presents Athol Fugard’s ‘My Children! My Africa!’

Austin Shakespeare will present Athol Fugard’s acclaimed drama “My Children! My Africa!” at the Long Center’s Rollins Theatre on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 16, at 3 p.m.

First staged in 1989 as apartheid neared its end, Fugard’s play examines the tensions between generations, races and ideologies through the relationship of an idealistic teacher, his gifted Black student Thami, and Isabel, a white student from a nearby school. As their intellectual partnership deepens, political unrest challenges their understanding of identity, loyalty and change.

Performances will be held at Rollins Theatre at the Long Center.
