What

Austin-based choreographer Allysen Hooks will debut two original works in a weekend-long performance series at dadaLab from April 25–27. Featuring nine collaborating dance artists and an original score by composer Jordan T. Chiolis, the evening-length program marks a bold new chapter in Hooks’ choreographic exploration.

The performance includes Ordinary Ephemera, a surrealist meditation on dualities—body and soul, light and shadow—and I’m trying to feel something, a visceral, movement-driven journey through sensation and longing, interwoven with monologue. Both works invite audiences into dreamlike worlds where physical expression becomes a means of inquiry and transformation.

Performances will take place Friday at 8 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. The Saturday evening show includes a post-performance Q&A and cocktail hour. Doors open 30 minutes prior to each show.

Tickets are available on a sliding scale starting at $30.
