Ivester Contemporary opens two exhibitions Oct. 23 with an artist talk at 6 p.m. and a reception from 7 to 9 p.m. In “Americana,” Texas-born artist and U.S. Air Force veteran Jenn Hassin transforms repurposed textiles into intricate rolled-paper works exploring memory, family and belonging. Michael A. Booker’s “Small Comforts,” his first solo exhibition in Texas, features fine-line pen drawings examining how people find joy and connection amid uncertainty. Hear Booker discuss his work during the artist talk. The exhibitions run through Nov. 28.
