Welcome Into Blue Print: Darling Dallas Design Boutique Opens in Austin
Anticipated interior design boutique prepares to open their signature blue doors

The local interior design community has recently been buzzing about a highly-anticipated Austin expansion of the famed Dallas Blue Print boutique. Cherished for their wide array of antiques, art and accessories, Blue Print’s Austin location (1601 W. 38th Street) promises to be as admired by designers and design-lovers as the original shop in the Uptown district of Dallas.
The Austin Blue Print will host a grand celebration on August 24, and in anticipation of this exciting store opening, we chatted with the co-owners to learn a little more about what Austinites can expect from this new shop.

The beginnings of Blue Print
Blue Print was born from the inspirations shared by five interior designers and friends – Cynthia Collins of Collins Interiors, Caroline Eastman of Eastman Interiors, Leslie Jenkins of Jenkins Interiors, Carrie Jane Pogoloff of Pogoloff Interiors and Lucy Ward with Collins Interiors. Having traveled together for many years, acquiring furniture, antiques, art and accessories for their individual design practices, Blue Print became their shared retail vision in 2010.

Q&A with the Blue Print team
First, congrats and welcome to Austin! For those who are not yet familiar, please let us know what we can expect in your Austin location?
Carrie Jane Pogoloff: Once you step inside Blue Print’s signature blue doors, you can expect to see a variety of treasures for the home. With a curated collection of art, European antiques, custom lighting and our own furniture line, Blue Print offers an unparalleled design experience. Exceptional customer service is a hallmark of our business. We encourage and facilitate the taking of items home on approval. It is so important that our clients truly love what they are bringing into their homes. This offers our clients the unique and enormous benefit of seeing art and furniture in their space before making a commitment. We are thrilled to be in Austin and look forward to making your home beautiful.

Can you please share why you chose the city of Austin in particular?
Leslie Jenkins: Austin is one of the fastest growing cities for so many reasons. It has a vibrant music and art scene, incredible restaurants as well as beautiful parks and lakes. Each partner has ties to Austin through friends and family which gives a personal connection and that made it an easy decision. We feel like Austin was the natural way for us to grow our business, and we are so excited to be a part of one of the most exciting cities in the country.

Your design styles appear to be a very wonderful mix – English and French antiques, midcentury modern, contemporary, etc. Please share a little bit about how you curate your collections.
Cynthia Collins: I love to learn about the different designs from each furniture movement. Using pieces from different time periods and countries makes our design interesting and special. We like to do the same with objects that we find on our travels. Each client is drawn towards their unique personality and our hope is that we can provide a design with that perspective in mind. We look through that lens when considering art, fabrics, wall coverings, and lighting as well. The end result will be a work of art!
Will you offer interior design services in Austin?
Yes, our in house design team, Blue Print Interiors, will begin taking on projects in the Austin area. The design team can assist clients by providing turn-key room installations.
In addition to furniture, lighting, interior decor, tabletop pieces, you also offer an art gallery in Dallas. Do you also intend on selling fine art in the Austin space?
Caroline Eastman: Yes! Clients will be able to purchase artwork from Blue Print Gallery’s community of over sixty artists. The selection of artwork will be ever changing as works will move between Dallas and Austin. We have hung the art from floor to ceiling and can’t wait for you to come see!
Is there anything further that you would like the Austin market to know about Blue Print?
Lucy Ward: Blue Print opened our doors in 2010, in Dallas, Texas. We have an extensive inventory and will be bringing many new and special items to Austin in our weekly deliveries. We are happy to add anything to the truck! Blue Print also has design associates at all locations that are able to send pictures, tear sheets, dimensions and can Facetime clients and help with selections. We are committed to helping our customers have a pleasant and seamless buying experience and are thrilled to be opening in Austin!
