Boozy Popsicle Recipes: Lone Star Court’s Tempting Poptails

Why not mix the magic of a childhood treat with the delights of adulthood? Stylishly retro hotel Lone Star Court, along with Valencia Hotel Group’s six other Texas properties, once again salutes the summer season with its annual Poptail sale.

Mixing spirits with fruit-flavored ice pops, the refreshing cocktail-dessert combos are now served at the hotel’s on-site restaurant, The Water Trough. Coinciding with the release, Lone Star Court has also rolled out special packages that guarantee visitors looking to unwind with two complimentary Poptails and a daily credit to the in-room mini bar. 

The purchase goes beyond providing Domain residents, Austinites and travelers with the perfect summer indulgence. New to this year, the Houston-based hospitality team is launching Poptails with a Purpose. Proceeds from each sale will be donated to city-based organizations that have dedicated their time and resources to give back amid global hardship. 

For Austin, that recipient is Partnerships for Children, a nonprofit that has been aiding Central Texas youth since 2003. Acting as an intermediary between CPS caseworkers and children, they provide programs, resources, mentorship and more to create an invaluable support system for our most vulnerable. Plus, the destination makes contributing as easy as taking a sip – or a lick, as the case may be.

Lone Star Sunrise

Ingredients:

1.5 oz Tequila
3 oz Fresh Orange Juice
.25 oz Grenadine
Orange Popsicle

Directions:

Combine the tequila and Orange Juice in a shaker
Shake ingredients with ice and strain into glass
Drop the Grenadine from the top
Add orange popsicle
Serve and enjoy!

Cherry Mint Freeze

Ingredients:

1.5 oz Vodka
.25 oz Lime Juice
3 oz Sprite
.25 oz Grenadine
Mint Cherry Popsicle

Directions:

Combine Vodka, lime juice and Grenadine
Shake ingredients and strain into glass
Top with Sprite
Add fresh mint and Cherry popsicle
Serve and enjoy!

Sour Grapes

Ingredients:

1 oz Vodka
.5 oz Midori
2 oz Sour Mix
.25 oz Raspberry Liqueur Grape Popsicle

Directions:

Combine the Vodka, Midori and sour mix in a shaker
Shake ingredients and strain into glass
Pour Raspberry liquor into glass
Add Grape popsicle
Serve and enjoy!
