AIA Austin marked the 40th anniversary of its AIA Austin Homes Tour with a VIP party at Skyfall, the lakeside home of Marty and Lisa Sutter. Designed by Matt Fajkus Architecture and built by Dalgleish Construction, the residence gave more than 200 guests plenty to explore.
The 18,400-square-foot home features a courtyard pool, a water wall, an art-filled media room and a poolside bar. Known in national publications as Octant House, the residence was conceived as a gallery for everyday life, with stone volumes and open spaces framing views of the surrounding landscape. Throughout the evening, guests wandered between the interiors and outdoor gathering areas, where pools reflected the architecture and sky against sweeping lake views.
Some of the night’s most popular stops revealed the owners’ personal interests. A dedicated Porsche room displayed dozens of models, while another room housed a collection of model boats.
The celebration honored four decades of the AIA Austin Homes Tour, which opened nine architect-designed homes to the public Oct. 24 and 25. Each year, the tour gives visitors a closer look at Austin’s residential architecture and the collaboration between architects and homeowners that shapes each project.
