Thanksgiving To-Go: Austin Restaurants Making Meals for Pick-up

Safety is a top priority this holiday season, but Thanksgiving can still be festive, delicious — and stress-free

Traditional Thanksgiving get-togethers will look a little different this year. As a new wave of coronavirus infections strike the country, health officials urge families to take extra safety precautions this holiday season. But if you’re still planning on hosting a traditional dinner-table gathering with your household, Tribeza has compiled a round-up of Austin eateries serving up everything from to-go specials to meal kits to mouthwatering pies.

Swedish Hill

The masterminds behind the all-day Clarksville bakery and café put together a full Thanksgiving menu filled with your favorite classics. Celebrate the holiday with a whole natural turkey brined and roasted with fresh herbs. Plus, indulge in sides like green bean casserole and cornbread stuffing. Don’t forget to browse Swedish Hill’s assortments of Thanksgiving sweets, including pumpkin pie, pecan pie and more. The order deadline is 5 p.m., Nov. 20, and orders will be ready for pickup from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 25.

The Peacock

The family-style, Eastern Mediterranean restaurant located in the Austin Proper Hotel is launching Thanksgiving specials for those who want to have the perfect feast at home. From rotisserie turkey to cranberry walnut bread, the menu features traditional items and Mediterranean desserts like baklava and sticky toffee date pudding. Order now until 5 p.m., Nov. 20, and pickup from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 25.

Emmer & Rye and Hestia

Take the stress out of cooking a homemade dinner with Thanksgiving kits from Emmer & Rye and Hestia. The kits are par-cooked and come with reheating, assembly and cooking instructions. Choose a kit for 2 for $150 (includes a choice of one main, all sides and dessert) or a kit for 4 for $250 (includes a choice of two mains, all sides and dessert). Aba

Enjoy a Thanksgiving meal with a twist of Mediterranean flare with Aba. The new restaurant within the Music Lane development on South Congress offers to-go meals for two, four or six guests. Starting at $48.95 per person, the dinner features pumpkin hummus, truffle baked orzo, beef tenderloin kebab and more. The feast comes with reheating instructions, and the order deadline is Monday, Nov. 23, at 3 p.m. Aba is offering delivery or pickup on Tuesday, Nov. 24, or Wednesday, Nov. 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Le Vacher

The French restaurant’s culinary team in Dripping Springs is crafting pre-order items for Thanksgiving, including cornbread, escargots croissants, sweet potato casserole, classic pies, and much more. Check out the full menu on the website and place your orders by emailing toorders@levachertx.com. Pickup will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 25, between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Olamaie

“Olamaie’s Everything but the Turkey Dinner” features Chef Michael Fojtasek’s versions of Thanksgiving sides like broccoli and cheese casserole, cornbread sage stuffing and Olamaie’s famous buttermilk biscuits. For dessert (or breakfast), try their delicious biscuit dough cinnamon rolls. The holiday special feeds up to six, all for $150. Curbside pickup starts on Wednesday, Nov. 25, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

Colleen’s Kitchen

The southern-inspired restaurant in Mueller is launching multiple Take + Heat Farmhouse Feats. Austinites can choose the Thanksgiving Farmhouse Feast that feeds 4 to 6 people for $145 or the Thanksgiving Farmhouse Dinner that feeds 2 to 3 people for $80. Plus, the eatery offers a Trimmings Package that contains classic southern sides like garlic roasted mashed potatoes starting at $54.

Schmidt Family Barbecue

The smokehouse is selling whole smoked turkeys and whole hams that can feed larger groups for the holiday. The smoked turkey breast with sides like poblano cream corn and scallop potatoes is available for purchase for smaller groups. Dessert options include pecan, pumpkin and buttermilk pies. The order deadline is Wednesday, Nov. 18, and pickup is available on Nov. 23 through Nov. 25.

Gati

Make sure to save room for dessert this holiday season and grab gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan sweets from Gati. The new vegan ice cream shop in East Austin offers a selection of gluten-free pies that can also be made vegan upon request. The pies ($45 each) include pecan, pumpkin, apple, flourless orange cake gateau, sweet potato and apple crumble. Gati will also be making ice cream cakes and ice cream pies starting at $45 for 6-inch and $57 for 9-inch. Orders can be placed at hello@gatiicecream.com, and guests can choose to pick up their orders at Gati or Thai Fresh.

Delysia Chocolatier

Delysia Chocolatier is featuring seasonal collections that are the perfect additions for any Thanksgiving meal. Delysia Chocolatier’s turkey molded chocolate treats are made with gold, white, milk and dark chocolate. Plus, their 16-piece hostess truffle collection gift box is filled with Thanksgiving dishes flavors like cranberry sauce and apple pie.

Bakery Lorraine

Bakery Lorraine at the Domain NORTHSIDE offers their signature Dutch Apple Pie, a Roasted In-House Pumpkin Pie and a boozy spin on the classic pecan pie called the Jack Daniel’s Pecan Pie. Each pie is $26, and orders are encouraged to be placed by Sunday, Nov. 22. Customers can pick up their orders at the shop on Wednesday, Nov. 25. Extra pies will be available for purchase on a first-come, first-served basis.
