Collectors, artists and art enthusiasts gathered Oct. 1 and 3 to celebrate Gallery Dojo’s debut with an exhibition highlighting the range of contemporary representational art.
Featuring work by 21 artists from across the country, “Dojo: Place of the Way” spans meticulously rendered works ranging from hyperrealistic still lifes to imaginative surrealist works. The exhibition explores how artists draw on established techniques while bringing new perspectives to recognizable subjects.
The opening celebrations began with a VIP preview Oct. 1, giving designers, collectors and art advisers an early look at the exhibition and an opportunity to meet participating artists. Guests explored the paintings and discussed their techniques, subjects and the stories behind them.
At the public reception Oct. 3, longtime admirers of representational art joined first-time gallery visitors to explore the show. Participating artists shared insights into their processes, offering guests a closer look at the work on display.
The name Dojo reflects the gallery’s emphasis on discipline, practice and mastery — principles expressed in the exhibition’s attention to technique and individual artistic vision.
