Dedicated to contemporary representational work, Gallery Dojo promotes mid-career to established artists from across the country whose work is grounded in technique and story, pushed into a contemporary context. The artists’ work is positioned as highly collectible fine art aimed at collectors seeking something distinctive and of the highest caliber. Think collectible rather than decorative.

While rooted in East Austin, the gallery has a national footprint, representing artists from across the country rather than a purely local roster. It brings the work of leading artists from around the nation to Austin, adding to the city’s growing reputation as an arts destination.

Gallery Dojo is the elevated gallery offshoot of Atelier Dojo. Dojo means “place of the Way,” a fitting name for a place of focus, practice and mastery. This sense of intentionality and purpose is immediately evident as soon as guests step inside the gallery.

At the helm of Gallery Dojo are two arts industry leaders and trailblazers: Logan Dix and Denise Fulton. Dix, who serves as Director and Curator, has a background in arts business, advisory and appraisal, with more than eight years in advising on public and private collections. Fulton brings an esteemed pedigree to the Gallery. She is the founder and owner of Atelier Dojo, an arts academy. Together, the duo are unstoppable.

“There is room for everyone here to enjoy the artwork,” says Dix. “We’ve built Gallery Dojo to be warm, welcoming and rooted in education, a place where the work speaks for itself. What we show is highly collectable, not merely decorative. I want collectors to know they can find something truly unique and exceptional within these walls. Art tells the story of the artist, but it also becomes part of the story and journey of the collector who chooses to live with it.”

Grand opening celebration

Gallery Dojo will host its grand opening from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 3. The event will introduce its inaugural exhibition, “Dojo: Place of the Way,” reinforcing the gallery’s identity as a place of focus, practice and mastery.

The exhibition features 20 artists from across the country and spans a range of representational approaches, including surrealism, realism, romanticism and expressive work. While diverse in style, the artists share a grounding in storytelling and process.

As Austin’s art scene continues to flourish, Gallery Dojo offers a new destination for collectors and art enthusiasts. The gallery’s Oct. 3 grand opening marks the beginning of its commitment to making exceptional contemporary art accessible to the local community and bringing national talent to Austin.
