ATX Open Brings World-Class Women’s Tennis and Star Power to Austin
The ATX Open featured world-class tennis, exclusive events, Jessica Pegula’s championship win and an appearance by Matthew McConaughey

From Feb. 22 to March 2, the ATX Open returned to Austin, bringing Texas’ only women’s tour-level tennis tournament and the state’s largest women’s professional sporting event to Westwood Country Club. Now in its third year, the tournament drew top players, engaged fans with exclusive events and featured a high-profile appearance from Matthew McConaughey, who cheered on Jessica Pegula during her semifinal match.
A star-studded kickoff at the Players Party
The tournament began with the Players Party on Feb. 22, an exclusive event at the Cadillac Club. With a portion of proceeds benefiting Dell Children’s, the event featured an open bar with specialty cocktails from LALO, Jeio and Tito’s Vodka, as well as curated bites.
DJ Kay Cali set the mood while West Hill Hat Collection hosted a pop-up, allowing guests to design custom hats at their leather bar. The night also included high-end giveaways, with prizes ranging from fine jewelry to a stay at Hotel Viata. Tennis pros Ajla Tomljanović, Peyton Stearns and Yue Yuan made special appearances before the evening concluded with the highly anticipated draw ceremony, revealing the first-round matchups.
Ladies’ Day Brunch
Another highlight was the Ladies’ Day Brunch on Feb. 27, offering guests a full-service brunch with curated food and beverages while DJ KICKIT provided a lively soundtrack. Beyond the cuisine, attendees browsed boutique pop-ups from Kendra Scott, CourtLife, Richsport and Blue Gardenia Boutique before enjoying a Q&A and photo opportunity with Tomljanović.
Each table featured a Domain shopping bag filled with curated gifts, one of which was awarded to a lucky guest through a surprise menu reveal. Guests also participated in a raffle with luxury giveaways and were encouraged to donate to New Hope Animal Rescue through QR codes placed at each table. Following the brunch, attendees moved to Center Court for the Second Round of Singles and Doubles Quarterfinals, getting a front-row seat to the world-class tennis action.
Pegula takes the title, McConaughey shows support
The tournament concluded with U.S. tennis star Jessica Pegula, ranked No. 4 in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), winning the singles title. Pegula secured 280 tour points and took home $33,200 in prize money. In doubles, Yue Yuan and Anna Blinkova claimed victory, earning 280 tour points and $12,000 in winnings.
Adding to the excitement, Academy Award-winning actor Matthew McConaughey was spotted courtside, enthusiastically cheering for Pegula during her semifinal match on March 1.
With another successful year in the books, the ATX Open continues to solidify its place as a premier event in Austin’s sports scene, celebrating the talent of women’s tennis on a global stage.
