Austin’s first and only non-alcoholic bottle shop, Dear Dry Drinkery, is marking a significant milestone with its one-year anniversary celebration on Sunday, August 25, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Located at 2226 E Cesar Chavez Street, the shop was founded by husband and wife duo Joe Patterson and Grace Vroom, who have committed themselves to reimagining the non-alcoholic beverage shopping experience. Their vision was born out of a desire to eliminate alcohol influence from every aisle and create a space where non-alcoholic drinkers could explore and enjoy a curated selection of beverages in a welcoming, judgment-free environment.

Since its opening, Dear Dry Drinkery has become a beloved fixture in the community, offering an extensive range of non-alcoholic wines, beers, and functional beverages. The shop’s unique approach to curation ensures that every product on the shelf has been personally tested and approved by the founders, reflecting their seven-plus years of experience living a sober lifestyle. “Everything here is very highly curated for a reason,” said Vroom. “We’ve tried these products over the years, and many of the companies we feature are based right here in Austin.”

Patterson and Vroom have fostered strong connections with their customers, often taking feedback on new beverage suggestions and bringing in samples to ensure they meet their high standards. “We want to be a place where people enjoy coming and getting the things they like,” Patterson shared.

To celebrate its first year, Dear Dry Drinkery is hosting a free event featuring tacos from The Vegan Nom, non-alcoholic drinks mixed by Björn Taylor, snacks from Siete, face painting by SparkleFaerie, and wigs from Coco Coquette. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP to join the festivities and experience the unique atmosphere that they’ve cultivated.

Looking ahead, Patterson and Vroom plan to continue fostering community connections through events like non-alcoholic mixology classes and casual gatherings. These events provide an opportunity for locals and visitors alike to connect free from the influence of alcohol.
