Nickel City Owner Launches Swim Club at Downright Austin
A downtown Austin hotel launches a new venue for swimming, dining, and dancing, opening June 24
Downright Austin, a hotel in downtown Austin, is set to unveil its newest addition, Swim Club, at 701 E. 11th St., on Monday, June 24. This innovative social club, created from a historic pool and led by Travis Tober of Nickel City, Murray’s Tavern, and Old Pal, blends swimming, dining, and dancing into a unique experience.
“Swim Club is designed to be fun and flirty, a laid-back space where we hope guests can come in and lose themselves for a while, whether they want to have a meal, grab a drink, get some sun or catch a late-night DJ set in The Rodeo Room,” said Travis Tober. “We are also working on some exciting partnerships with our friends in Austin and the area to create unique experiences throughout the year.”
Swim Club hosts pool parties, bold cocktails and nostalgic dishes
Open to all and free from membership requirements, Swim Club invites guests to enjoy daytime pool parties with weekly rotating drink specials, live music, and DJ sets. As the sun sets, the party continues in The Rodeo Room, a lively disco lounge perfect for late-night revelry.
The food and cocktail menu at Swim Club features bold, spice-infused cocktails and nostalgic dishes reminiscent of backyard summer grilling. Signature drinks include the Skinny Dipper, with strawberry-infused Aperol and coconut fat-washed mezcal, and the Marg, a tequila and orange pekoe tea concoction with boozy swirls. Guests can also enjoy brick-oven pizzas and Baja fish tacos.
Adjacent to the pool, The Lawn at Swim Club provides a vibrant space with picnic tables and chairs, ideal for events, private gatherings, and more. The dining room will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, with the bar open until midnight. On Fridays and Saturdays, the dining room extends until 11 p.m., and the bar remains open until 2 a.m. Pool service is available daily from 11 a.m. to close.
